when I was little, they would send me to art classes, along with calligraphy, and ballet because it's one of those "my kid must be able to do everything"

EDIT: Many people have been asking me on how I made Serah's part 2 outfit. I've said I won't make a tutorial, but I'll give out helpful tips. I don't feel like explaining the way I made things over and over again, so I'll lead people here and I hope it'll be helpful. I'll be updating this journal whenever I add new details. I'll be remaking my outfit for better accuracy.

Your art is worth more than you think.It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a person in possession of a good fortune must be in want of art.
If you've ever taken a look at the job-offers part of any forum or site, you'll notice two tendencies that occur online. The first is that a lot of people look for art, some for the cheapest possible price at the best possible quality. The other is that a lot of people are willing to low-ball even more than the initial offer simply to snag the job.
Because if they don't offer cheaper art than the rest, they wouldn't be getting the job, or so the line of thought most likely goes.
You see people selling full-body, detailed renderings for $10, or people who sell pixel art for 50 points. But why?
A reminder should be sent out telling people that their art is worth so much more than they think. And this is why I can highly advise these journals if you plan to price and sell your art.

myTakoyaki COMIC-CON 2012 CONTESTWe decided to get at table at the New York Anime Fest 2012 in October.  As we make our debut, we would like to open a contest and publish a magazine featuring mytakoyaki’s mangas to help promote the site!
DEADLINE – JULY 16, 2012
1st Place – Main Character of the oneshot will be featured on our cover with other characters in full color as the headliner. A copy of the magazine, $100 bucks, interview and promotional page
2nd Place – main character will be on the cover, copy of the magazine, links to their website.
3rd, 4th, and 5th place – Their oneshot story will be published to our magazine that we will be selling on NYAF 2012.  Credits and links to their website(if you have one deviant or other) will be noted in the magazine so they can get some publicity and a copy of the magazine.

Faded Haven Character Contest!!! Finished!!!Hello again!.

Phoenix Dream RPG video game development team has decided to make yet another contest. Which means that there will be two contests going on at the same time so be sure to check out them both

This time the contest will be simple: Draw one of the "Faded Haven" protagonists or antagonists.
As the characters are already, so to say, predetermined the most important aspect will be the art itself and imagination.
You are allowed to make changes in character's appearance as long as it stays the same person and you can still guess who it is. Which actually is pretty much the same thing, but whatever

This is an Avengers group after all. So that means no Spiderman. Also, just chatacters specific to The Avengers movie. So no Jane or Peggy either.

Rules

Mature content is accepted but no nudity or intense sexual themes. Also, make sure it's tagged.

You must create something new for this contest. So nothing posted before August 25th.

You must pick one medium for your entry. Meaning you cannot submit a drawing & writing.

You have to have at least one of the acceptable characters in your entry.

Literature specific rules

No word limit, but you can only submit ONE entry. Meaning no multi-chapter stories UNLESS it fits into one literature submission. DeviantArt has a 65,535 character limit on literature submission. So as long as you stay under that, you’ll be fine.

You cannot edit a pervious multi-chapter story to make it fit into one submission.

Visual art specific rules

No bases, it has to be original.

A few other miscellaneous things

As for judging, it will be a group vote, but the method will depend on the amount of entries we get.

Visual art will be judged with visual art & literature will be judged with literature.

You MUST submit your entries into the contest folder. Your entry will not be judged if it’s not in the folder.
